A list of the best and most mouthwatering food shown in animated films.

Using food in films is nothing new. Characters are living beings that need food to survive, and so many times, food is used in passing. However, in animated films, food is used as a tool that adds to the story. Since these dishes are considered important to the film as a whole, animators put a great amount of detail into the creation of the food's appearances. Some of these films leave the audience's mouths watering for the delicious dishes that only exist in their animated dreams.

Disney's 2007 film Ratatouille is a fun movie full of amazing cuisine. The film follows a little rat named Remy, played by Paton Oswalt, as he chases his dream of being a chef. With his incredible sense of smell, he finds himself in a position to use it. With the help of Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano), Remy is able to cook in a famous restaurant by pulling on Linguini's hair like a human puppet. However, Remy's past and his species cause problems that he must learn to overcome.

Since the movie revolves around Michelin star food, there are plenty of delicious looking dishes. The meal that looked the most delicious was Remy's Breakfast Omelette. A thank-you meal for Linguini after Remy is welcomed into his home, the omelette is made with minimal ingredients found in the bachelor pad. The golden eggs are cooked to perfection and the fresh seasonings from the neighbor's garden look amazing. It was the perfect way to start the day that anyone would drool over.

In 2011's Kung Fu Panda 2, audiences got to look into the history of Po the Panda, played by Jack Black, after the start of a successful franchise. In the first film, the story follows Po's journey from working in his father's noodle shop to becoming the dragon warrior. His training consisted of a food reward system, which showed many tempting treats. The second film delved into Po's past and his birth parent's story, in a tale that taught a lesson about moving on from trauma. In a more light-hearted moment, Po is with the Furious Five, as he tries to stuff as many bean buns in his mouth as he can. While incredibly funny, it showed a delicious Chinese treat. The steamed bun is a sweetened bread dough that can hold different fillings from meat to veggies. The film showed the beautiful color and springy texture that was mouth-watering.

Disney's 1998 film Mulan took the world by storm. The movie's beautiful drawing style and amazing soundtrack made for a highly successful $304 million box office gross. Following the story of Fa Mulan, played by Ming-Na Wen, as she takes her father's place in the war draft to fight against an invading Hun army. Mulan must keep her identity a secret as it was illegal for a woman to serve in the military at that time. She became every girl's hero for risking it all to protect her family and country.

Everything in Mulan was expertly drawn and made everyone feel as if they were on the adventure alongside the characters. One particular detail in the film had audiences looking for a taste of the world as well. When Mulan is at the training camp, Mulan's guardian dragon Mushu (Eddie Murphy), makes her a supportive breakfast porridge with rice, eggs, and bacon. It was a simple dish, but looked absolutely scrumptious.

The 2001 Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away whisked audiences into a world full of spirits and adventure. The film followed a young girl named Chihiro, played by Daveigh Chase, as she and her family stumble into a theme park for the spirit world. When her parents are turned into pigs for trespassing, she must work under the powerful Yubaba to free them. The film was a wonderful coming -of-age story that showed the fear and anxiety that kids face as they grow up.

All the food prepared in the spirit world looks delicious and cooked to perfection. Every dish is an extravagant tribute prepared in gratitude to the spirits that visit Yubaba's bathhouse. However, it is the simplest dish that catches the audience's eye. When Chihiro has lost everything and must face a scary new world, Haku (Jason Marsden) gives her a special Onigiri rice ball to help her start her adventure. Audiences were captivated by the emotional comfort the rice ball gave Chihiro and made it a craving whenever a bad day is had.

The famous Eartha Kitt's portrayal of the scheming Yzma is a fan favorite. Pair her with the beloved, food-friendly henchman Kronk (Patrick Warburton) and they become the most loved villain pair. Audiences fell in love with Kronk and his caring personality. They especially became infatuated with the delicious spinach puffs that Kronk cooks the night Kuzco is turned into a llama. They look amazing with the golden puff pastry shown steaming off the plates. There have been many recipes said to be based off of Kronk's, but we will never know what was exactly in his specialty filling.

The 2012 film Brave is Pixar's film following the Scottish Princess Merida, played by Kelly MacDonald. She is a fierce archer that wants to challenge all the steps her parents have waiting for her. Her rebellion breaks an age-old tradition that leaves her kingdom in chaos. She seeks out a witch for a spell to help her change her fate, only to accidentally turn her mother into a bear. She and her mother must work together to break the spell before her mother changes into a bear permanently and her kingdom is engulfed by chaos.

Almost every detail about the film was perfection, from the beautiful Scottish landscape to the magical life lessons. The family dynamic is definitely something that audiences can't get enough of. Merida's three younger brothers are absolutely the typical crazy little boys that run amuck. While Merida complains about them getting away with everything, she is also the older sister that helps them in their endeavors. One thing she does is give them a large plate of sweet Iced Rolls when they wouldn't eat their haggis. The rolls are baked to perfection with a delicious icing and cherry on top.

Disney's A Goofy Movie from 1995 is home to a great story, with great music and a great lesson. When Max (Jason Marsden) gets in trouble at school, Goofy (Bill Palmer) decides to take him on a father-and-son bonding road trip. Unfortunately, that throws a wrench into Max's plan to take his long-time crush out on a date. Goofy and Max must learn how to communicate with each other before it destroys their relationship.

When Max hangs out with his friend P.J. (Rob Paulsen), the boys snack on everyone's favorite junk food, pizza. This is not just a normal pizza, though, it is an extremely cheesy pizza that is so weighed down that the slice droops and oozes its toppings. The pizza looks so tantalizing that it makes a special appearance in An Extremely Goofy Movie from 2000. Every kid that saw this movie has never seen a pizza in real life that can live up to the cheesy and spectacular standard.
