Earlier this week, South African media personality and rapper Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo announced that she was entering a new business venture selling wigs on her online store, BE YOU. While many loved to see that she is attempting to expand her empire, their excitement quickly turned to disappointment after they saw the prices of the hair pieces which they also expressed weren’t the fine quality they expected.

Many of them have headed online to ask the 32-year-old to consider making the hair pieces more affordable – a plight she is yet to respond to.

The wig business is absolutely booming right now and many South African celebrities are trying to dip their toes into it. The latest local celeb to join the market is rapper Boity Thulo.

The star has collaborated with Front Row Hair to bring an exclusive wig range and she couldn’t be more excited.

While many of her loyal supporters have wished her well and congratulated her on her new business venture, not everyone is happy about it.

The wigs start at around R2000 and go up to around R6000 but many people don’t think it’s worth it at all.

Many have slammed the rapper for the “ridiculous and over expensive” price attached to the hairpieces.

Their opinions were shared with gossip blogger Musa Khawula who asked them how they felt about Boity’s new business.

Here are some of their responses to him:

“Girls and ladies, go to Aliexpress, forget Boity or DJ Zinhle. You get nice wigs for less. Even 360 wigs are affordable. These celebrities will sell you 360 wigs for R5000…ridiculous!”

“What happened to her Natural hair care line…get on TikTok y’all and look for factory supplies for wigs don’t let these people rob y’all.”
