Movies & TV News Nollywood

On the surface, it’s supposed to be a tough year for actress Yvonne Nelson – she is currently “suspended” from acting by movie producers in Ghana and Nigeria but rather than let others control her career, the actress has taken charge and “flipped the script”.

In addition to high profile appearances at events including the AY Live show which took place in Lagos earlier this month; Yvonne recently unveiled her new entrepreneurial ventures: YN’s Closet – A Fashion Shop and YN Lace Wig Collection. Check out the ad campaign images for both ventures and recent promo photos as well.

First? Second maybe? Contact for info: BB Pin? What happened to websites where you could actually see what was available? I’m not impressed…plus she could have done some sit-ups in preparation for the photoshoot! At least the lace wig looks better on her than some other sistas *names withheld*…

human beings are so hard to please, if she had mega toned abs you would say it does not reflect an African woman….

Wow…. I Love it GO GIRL

@Vixen- First ke? you failed woefully.

I’m not feeling this shoot. The hair… everything…… Nay!

nice… would try d hair sha

Why was she suspended? Does anyone know? Please tell me.

BECAUSE IN GHANA – “HUMILITY” IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN THE SOCIETY – AND WITH YVONNNE – HUMILITY SHE IS NOT – THUS JACKIE APPIAH GETS MORE PREFERENCE AND FAVOURITISM – AND MS NELSON WAS NOT HAVING THAT. SHE FELT SHE NEEDED TO BE TREATED EQUALLY” – WELL LIKE I SAID – IN GHANA IF YOU ARE NOT A HUMBLE PERSON – YOU WILL NEVER BE LIKED – NOT EVEN BY THE PERSON SELLING BY THE ROAD SIDE – HUMILITY IS EXTREMELY UTTERLY IMPORTANT TO GET AHEAD IN EVERYTHING. VERY VERY IMPORTANT. THATS JUST THE CULTURE. You should know how you treat ppl and know how to communicate with people. All eyes are watching.Glad she has something to fall back on – at least until the ban is lifted.

” HUMILITY SHE IS NOT”?? fo real?

Mcheeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Humility my foot!!! A little assertiveness please?

I think it has something to do with Jackie Appiah.

we really want to know why she was suspended

in a short while, she gon bLOWWWWWWWWWW UP..no different from genevive…she has d character and sense of judgement to weather d storm…

those movie pple shud realize dat sooner than later they would call her back and she will just get bigger…

e.g. ive neverr really watched any of her movies fully neither do i KNOW her that well but in one weeek, ive known no one else this much..tanx to bans et all..mtshcewwwwwwwwwwww

she has the loveliest eyes!

My african women please stop with this lace wig stuff! What is wrong with embracing ourselves and what we have? What is our obsession with trying to look like oyinbos and doing what is not natural to us? I’m not really against weave just the ridiculously fake ones that are so long and unnecessary. Will it take oyinbo people to start rocking afros or something before we appreciate out own? My comment is also sparked from the laver wig craze on nollywod. #justsayin’

They said she is arrogant. Click on this link 4 details www. yeoal.blogspot.com/2010/11/yvonne-nelson-banned-for-year.html

@THE AMAKA TANKS FOR SAYING IT.becos it seems to me like theres this thing against africans looking ok i dont intend to sound racist but it seems that there is a new defined beauty and if our hair is not indian, peruvian, malasian, brazillian, or watever hair is in vogue we are not preety reminds me of an article i read on cnn website about asians [chinese i think] trying to change their looks to look more western

gorgeous girl. fierce. btw i hate lacewigs

@ cynthia o, that is what really happend to her? Sad oh, really sad. any way i hope she is able to weather the storm. Abt the lace wigs, i m sooo not interested. I dont mind anyone that wears it but for the love of God, am i less beautiful if i dont. Pls, love the way u r, that is what i say, always.

i love her lace wig. she is beautiful too

people still wearing Lace Front <<>>>, It’s a Damn Shame!!

I love the last pictures ,it was flawless.

The first lacefront looks awful in my opinion; I like the kinky-curly looking one better maybe because it looks more like our hair. I respect her hustle…there is a market for lace fronts. I also understand the need for self-expression and switching up looks, but more & more, it seems that we’re not happy with our own hair at all. I’m not saying we all have to be natural but pretty much 2/3rds of the pictures of awon bigz girls has them in lace fronts. For what? To look more attractive? You can’t tithe in church or pay your share of your grandmother’s birthday gift because you’ve spent all your money on the latest realest-looking fake hair. Yes, black women’s hair can grow really long & come in different textures but when you have some Pocahontas or Jasmine from Aladdin & the 40 thieves hair on your head, trust me boos, we all know it ain’t yours…yes, even the dude you’re trying to front for knows it isn’t yours.

wat is all dis one wit people saying women shudnt wear lace wigs, ah ah, so if u like d way somethin luks u shudnt wear it…wat rubbish,i luv lace wig and how it luks on people, dnt wear it but wudnt mind it…is it ur money…abeg

@tika do you have any personal issues with her cos the last tym i checked she neva said she was a model,in case you have forgotten she is an actress.

to all dos ditching lace wig n weavon its so unneccessary….let people wear wat eva dey like its not ur business…pleaaasssseee!!! ny looks so beautiful..

well as a stylist and makeup artist, her sense of style in this photo session is wack and plz she shld get a professional makeup artist to do ur makeup next time and whoever was her stylist didnt do a great job at all but i do like yvonne as an actress i think she one of ghana finest in the movie industry.

The world is a much worse place today because of such individuals as the ones griping over other people’s use of lace wigs. Since whe did you become so flagrantly disrespectful of other people’s right(s) to choose? And these are the same people who will be screaming blue murder if the government so much as dares suggest anything that smirks of “disregard of our fundamental human rights”. Get off your high horse and mind your own business! Nobody needs your permission to wear lace wigs, indian/brazilian/mongolian/peruvian/italian weaves or any other thing for that matter. If they have the money and so wish to don one, how does it affect the price of fish in the market??? Everything always has to end in the blackVSwhite issue. If you are so african, chop off your permed hair, stop doning those western clothes, by all means, relocate to your village. Start wearing the 2 pieces and 1 piece with beads and camwood all over your body. Wake up early in the morning and farm and hunt for your daily sustenance. RUBBISH! I am so sick and tired of all these opinionated creatures, honestly. You don’t like lacewigs or weaves, when you see them, look the other way. It is not by force for us all to wear them. Some of us like them and will continue to wear them unrepentantly. If that means to you that we are trying to look western, so be it. Your opinion doesn’t count, never counted, will never count. Key word: NEVER. There, i said it!!!

From an unrepentant Lace wig and weaves wearer.

as i said, I’m not against weaves in general (the TY Bello and Nike Oshinowo) type, but the excessively fake and extremely long, and shiny ones are a big NO. its obvious that is something that is not natural to us, so what gives? I believe you can enhance what is natural to you, but ditch the fake stuff, please. TY’s hair looks real, and Nike’s hair looks like anyone that goes to the Salon to get their hair straightened (which I’m not against) but the others? ABEG!!!

Please you are still forcing your opinion down on people, its all about individual choices and its only better we respect that and stop being so judgemental of one another

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaDa1e_j9vo&feature=feedlik

since bella refuses to publish my comment.

And i maintain that it’s people’s prerogative to choose how they dress or wear their hair. It’s exclusively their choice and not yours to make. Respect that is all i’m saying. And remember…”excessively fake”. “extremely long”, “shiny”, “natural” etc are relative!. One man’s meat is another’s poison. Simple!

she hot oh make i go bye my own lace wig who go follow me go bye

Not werkin for me, sorry
